Possible Issues

- You lack confidence, particularly with anything new

- You feel everyone else exudes confidence.

- You can feel shy and self-conscious in company, particularly with strangers

The Cause

True self-confidence comes from being totally comfortable with who we are and how we relate to the people and world around us. Many people give the impression of self-confidence, but this can be an act to hide a deeper level of insecurity. If we lack self-confidence, we probably feel frightened to be ourselves and speak our mind. This may be felt as a sense of inferiority and even guilt. We may believe that we don't deserve to be respected or loved by people.

When we lack confidence our energy becomes negative and our body language becomes self- conscious and shy. Our negativity means that we will pass over opportunities in life and tend to become dependent on others. Low confidence will stop us from following our purpose in life and from sharing our skills, talents and gifts.

The Way Through

Low self-confidence

Building self-confidence is about working on those insecurities and negative self-concepts that rob your confidence and self-esteem. You will come to realise that all your negative self-beliefs are mistakes, usually formed when you were in a situation of emotional pain and uncertainty in the past. As you let go of these issues, your natural confidence will blossom. Also remember that most people have times in their life when they lack confidence. If you remember this, particularly in social settings, focusing on other people's feelings rather than your own, you will allow you to become more confident.

Look around you and assess the people you think are confident - if there is any sense of bragging, arrogance or control, then the 'confidence' is simply a front for fear and insecurity. True self confidence includes others, magnetically attracts and spreads feelings of love and joy.
